Finally put some tunes up - 2008/02/19 21:22 Hey Ya'll!
I finally put a couple of tunes up. I kept waiting until I thought they were perfect, and it hasn't happened yet, so I weighed out the ole process vs. product theory, and just decided to post what I got! I am having fun, and this process has been very enlightening for me. I listened to some other people's stuff on the RPM site, and was very impressed. Do we work well under pressure, or what? Debra

*shoots self* Okay okay, I know that's not what it's about but, man, I am in awe.

Re:Finally put some tunes up - 2008/02/21 11:23 Thanks, Darlin,
I listened to your stuff and liked it too! I have really gotten juiced up by this process!
I just wrote another tune today. Finished the lyrics to the bridge in the attic of the theatre between spotlight cues. How's it coming along for you? Debra

Re:Finally put some tunes up - 2008/02/22 13:10 ...it's slowing up slightly as my creative juices are starting to run out! I plan to rest for the next 11 months so that I have more to give next year!

Re:Finally put some tunes up - 2008/02/22 19:42 Listened to your stuff, it sounds awesome, very good vocals and well-played, well-recorded guitar.

Only crits: On 'open sky' near the beginning it sounds like you're , eh, pusing your voice in some weird way on some of the consonant sounds. I have no conception of terminology when it comes to singing, but it's sort of a rick james effect which doesn't quite fit the song. The only way I can describe it is that you sort of emphasize and then pull back in a staccato way with hard 'k' or 'c' sounds. A very small detail.

Also, on a couple tracks it seems like your vocal levels vary a bit wildly- this could be fixed with a slow compressor or just modulating distance from the mic.

Hope these were helpful points, I really think your stuff is great.
