this one, a post-rock collaboration between me and a Canadian musician called jaspertine, aka.... I am not sure. I will have to ask him.

it's pushed and heavy....leslies involved

Re:last demo until CD release - 2008/02/21 01:09 Will you forgive me if I say "portishead"?

The leslie vox for some reason made me think that. Overall pretty cool. Pretty soundtrack-y.

Overall I have no real crits. It seems to be doing what it tries to do pretty well. Actually, the feel of the track makes me want to hear those breathy, close-in type vocals instead of where you have the dynamics right now. Matter of taste though.

I'm not fully qualified to critique this style of music.

Re:last demo until CD release - 2008/02/21 01:27 Love the bitcrushed drums there... and I would say maybe a Povi/Portishead vibe, but not overtly so.

Very nice!

I am actually glad you made this comment-- I am not qualified to do breathy close-up vocals (just not in the genetic make-up) and was pleased to hear what a more soulful, bluesy vocal would do to such an ambient laid back track.

Nothing to do with you, , but I am really getting tired of the Sias/Fiests of the world and their "I won't challenge you with a range of more than three notes" vocals. Testy I know but damn, there are 9 days left and the Prozac is waning

Re:last demo until CD release - 2008/02/21 06:15 I agree that the feist style vocal might get overused, and listening to your other stuff (seawall) the more forceful (I have no idea on vox terminology) vocals work better. I think that this track would probably be best with a balanced full range in terms of dynamics, not just one or the other.

Re:last demo until CD release - 2008/02/21 06:45 I love it. I love it all. Your voice is...well, gorgeous. I normally don't listen to this sort of music, but I would listen to this. I can't classify it at all since I don't have a reference point. Just keep doing what you're doing.

Cheers,

Gary
