Beatnik O'Turtle - 2008/02/13 07:37 We're still very much in the beginning stages, but we have one song with "final vocals" so we made a quick work-in-progress mix tonight and posted it.

The Holy Ground

We updated this ol' folky, traditional Irish Pub Song by turning it into an upbeat pop-rock number. That's our drummer singing.

Oh, and we should say he plays the drums too.

By the way "The Holy Ground" was the name of a famous prostitution house in Ireland. Yeah, we didn't know that either, but once you know that little fact, the lyrics take on a whole new meaning...

It's just drums, vocals, guide guitar, and tambourine, but it's got promise...

But never tell your drummer he can actually sing - then he'll want to do it all the time... and then you'll find your band suffering from PCS (Phil Collins Syndrome) - y'know, having to wear natty matching suits, dance along clumsily with each other...

It's a terrible, terrible thing - so even though he can sing, be sure to tell him he can't and then chain him to the drum kit.

Just trying to do our civic duty here...

Otherwise, excellent job, y'all - looking forward to this disc Big Time.

And yes, we will make sure we DON'T tell our drummer he can sing. He's caged up in the studio anyway, so he doesn't have internet access.

Plus, when he does get in front of a computer, he usually hits it with sticks, so we think we're safe.

It should give an inkling as to what the rest of the album will sound like. We tried our best to revamp and update these ol' Irish pub songs into something of "our own".

It's amazing what happens when you add all the other instruments. If you're curious, the work-in-progress is posted at our profile page.

Okay, and now back to work and then home to mix, mix, mix...
