March 27 Listening Parties & Live Webcast

Saturday, March 27 is the RPM Global Listening Party -- if you can make it to Portsmouth, NH, then we hope you'll do so , since we're going to have a great time, starting with opening ceremonies at the 900-seat Music Hall at 6:30 pm and then fanning out across town to simultaneous listening parties -- but if you can't come, you should throw your own, or find one near you!

The idea of a listening party is simple: get a bunch of people together and listen to music. Really listen; check out new songs; open your mind and pay attention. But what makes a REALLY great listening party is one with other RPMers at it, so you can meet, compare notes, shake hands, commiserate, laugh and raise a glass. Below is a list of the listening parties confirmed so far; if you're going to one, make sure you sign up so they know you're coming.

If you have a listening party to get listed, or if you have any questions, e-mail Michelangelo at mick.michael.m at gmail.com.

Second Life Listening Party -  will take place on April 10, from 1 to 5 pm SLT (Second Life Time, which means Pacific Time). The event will take place at the VHAC (Vista Hermosa Art Center), which is a virtual art gallery located in Second Life.

Finish Line Fun!

The list of finished albums has finally been published here, so make sure you enter the date you mailed or delivered your album so it shows up in the list! As we recieve them, we'll enter the received date and that will appear in the last column.

Here at the Portsmouth branch, we've posting tiny 12-second videos of everyone turning in their CDs at the finish line,  which you can follow on 12seconds.tv or just by following our twitter feed @RPMChallenge. Post your own and add them to the stream!

If video isn't your thing (or even if it is), take a picture of yourself holding your finished RPM CD for the finish line gallery!

Once you're sent in your CD, help us load the 2010 Jukebox! The  Jukebox Uploader is open and ready for use! If you have not yet done so, help us fill the new Jukebox with your 2010 RPM albums by going to jukebox.rpmchallenge.com and logging in with your existing RPM username and password; then fill in your 2010 band and album information, and upload your 2010 RPM tracks!

The Global Listening Party will be March 27 -- if here isn't a party in your area, consider organizing your own! We'll have more information on listening parties in the next few days.

Congratulations!

2010 RPMcast Episode 3: The Finish Line

RPMcast is back with installment #3. You made it. Pat yourself on the back and enjoy some tracks by The Mass Romantics, Serene Dominic and others. Lend an ear HERE

This is The Challenge - Record an album in 28 days, just because you can.

That’s 10 songs or 35 minutes of original material recorded during the month of February. Go ahead… put it to tape.

Don't wait for inspiration - taking action puts you in a position to get inspired. You'll stumble across ideas you would have never come up with otherwise, and maybe only because you were trying to meet a day’s quota of (song)writing. Show up and get something done, and invest in yourself and each other.

Anyone can come up with an excuse to say “no,” so don’t!
