OK! So this year has gotten all goofed up!! We all know the economy is in the pooper, and we are all being effected somehow or other, and for me it has meant struggling to find work that doesn't seem to exist right now... I'm really bad at that anyways, and most of the stuff I've done over the past few years has found me on it's own as far as I can tell, and I've just been lucky to be able to pull off whatever someone might be looking for... so again, I'm not so great at getting myself out there and selling myself. Typical musician/artist = goober.
I was really looking forward to doing another Color CD for the RPM thing this year, but my looking for work has lead me to a trip out to LA so I was afraid that I might not be able to do it, or any kind of RPM thing... that trip is now getting pushed back to the end of Feb, so we probly could have done it anyways, o well...
So since that's not happening, and I have a bit of time before the end of Feb, before my leaving, I've decided to give a go at something on my own. To be honest, I've been dealing with the lack of work by selling off gear... I hate to do it!! But there comes a time when things have to go, and this has been one of those times! So I've sold a lot of stuff, and there's more on it's way... Anyways, one of the things on the chopping block is my old ARP PRO-DGX. It's a goofy old monophonic beast that my Granpa Dick found at the dump ;) I got it for X-Mas when I was 12 or so, and it's always worked, but never quite right. It's got some issues for sure, but also a cool sound that has made it onto many tunes over the years, including some Color gigs at the Press Room, and most notably on the Serfs tune "Quazar" check that out here : http://www.myspace.com/theserfs
Since this thing might be gone in the next few weeks, I decided that I ought to do it some justice, and put it to work one last time. So this year, I'm doing tunes that are either featuring it, or where it is the only instrument used... Probly a bunch of instrumentals that will bore anyone listening to tears! Wouldn't be the 1st time, and won't be the last!
So I've got a few in the can already, and I'm hoping to have the rest by the middle of this week. In the meantime, if your interested here's a great blurb I found about the ARP PRODGX here: http://www.vintagesynth.com/arp/prodgx.shtml
and also I made a goofy video showing it's current working order for anyone interested in purchasing it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnC-slNJn4s
man am I an ass!
;)
Best of luck to all!!
Rock On!
