I've been a guitarist, singer, and songwriter for a long time. A couple of years ago, I started playing the ukulele and had a lot of fun with it. I worked on a uke-based album, on and off, finding time around other projects (I play in several bands, including the indie pop project The Shake Ups, instrumental surf band The Madeira, and geek-rockers Hipster Zero, among others). Needless to say, my numerous projects, family life, work, etc. often keep me from getting back to working with the ukulele! I finally put out the uke album late last year, a 13-track disc called 'Uke-a-holics Unanimous.' And for the most part, I'm happy with it. However, having spent so much time on it over a period of a couple of years, it came out a little more produced than I had intended, even for a home-recorded project. So I'm interested in taking this challenge - both as a way to make something more basic and rough, as well as motivation to do more songwriting on the uke. |
