Eyes for Volume is the musical project of Vincent Whelan, a 17 year old from the Philadelphia region. Originally intended to be an indietronic band in the vein of The Postal Service, Whelan collaborated with friend Sam Bowden over the internet to try and get some tracks done. After a few attempts, the two realized that this was not going to work as well as they'd hoped. Following this, Whelan decided to still create this music instrumentally, hoping to someday get a singer to accompany his music with vocals. Soon, the project evolved into something different than orignally expected, and post-rock influences began to take a strong hold on Whelan's musical ability, and You Are The Ocean was soon created in an attempt to create an electronic-post-rock album. Today, Eyes For Volume makes music from all different musical styles, as Whelan is experimenting quite frequently.
In February of 2007, Eyes for Volume created "Very Coherent," an 11 song album, for the RPM Challenge. The album contains 2 intrumental tracks, 2 tracks based off of speeches, and 7 songs with vocals by Whelan, despite being slightly incoherent in one.
Eyes for Volume is currently working (at a less rushed pace than February) on a follow-up EP, hopefully to be completed by late March or April.
