With the help of local composer Greg Griffith as a producer, and editor for these recordings, I'm hoping the month-long impetus of some 6 am writing sessions mines a new sound. My name is Molly McGinn and I'm a singer-songwriter in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, a region where the writers say the mountains arm wrestle with the coast. Born in Dodge City Kansas and raised on Stardust, I'm a self-taught musician with some jazz training, and cut my first frets on Neil Young and Grateful Dead songs. Formerly a jam band rhythm guitar player, alt-country singer, and ska-punk raggae front woman, I'm hoping to bring together storytelling with jazz and a country-indy groove to a unique sound. Good thing Greg is so damn talented. |
