| Band Bio: |
Nathan Wade grew up surrounded by the churches and cornfields of Indiana before travels drew him to Seattle, Washington. After discovering the field recordings of audio archivist Alan Lomax, Nathan was so inspired by those early folk and blues recordings that he started writing some of his own. This resulted in some of his darkest music to date; songs doused with religion, drugs, murder, and apocryphal imagery right out of the Book of Revelations. He had to invent his own genre just to describe it: Post-Apocalypse Americana.
In 2006, Nathan self-released 'The Dead Leaves Sing,' a debut CD of Lomax-inspired field recordings that, at the speed of the internet, received radio play and critical acclaim from all over the world. After a year of extensive touring as a solo artist, Nathan upped the ante and formed the band The Dark Pioneers with Brian Alter (drums) and Sam Collins (bass); the sound almost immediately strayed from acoustic folk traditions on 'The Dead Leaves Sing' and took a turn for the heavy--think 'Led Zeppelin III' heavy. To capture this grittier, bluesier sound, the band recorded 'The Chroma Session EP' live in the studio in December of 2007, which will be released on Crow King Records in Spring 2008...unless the apocalypse arrives first. |
