Now, more than ever before, it's The Checkers Speech. There are downsides, of course, but that only plays to the strengths. What worked then will work at least as well now, with appropriate adjustments for the climate of neutrality (or lack of same).
The Checkers Speech is not a band, but rather a conceptual entity finding manifestation in the corporeal forms of the members of the band. That is, the idea becomes music, music becomes the man, the man stubs his toe and fights back tears; 'twas never more tangible or relevant.
The Checkers Speech is not signing up just now, but rather is biding its time and weighing its options, minding its own business and rotating its tires.

UPDATE 1/29/08: The Checkers Speech is now ready, and has signed up, even though The Checkers Speech is not at all sure that signing up was a wise move.
