I've been writing songs since I was a freshman in college, so I have a rather large catalogue of material. I've been able, through the use of my PC and a substantial loop library, to record thirteen CD's worth of material. My major influences are: Elton John, Robin Trower, Chicago, Joe Walsh and the James Gang, the Eagles, John Cougar Mellencamp, Barclay James Harvest, Heart, Thin Lizzy, the Who, James Taylor, Pat Benatar, and a host of others. Accoustic guitar is usually the main instrument used in my songs, with occasional electric guitar work mixed in. Almost all of my songs use bass and drums for a back beat, and many use horns as soloing instruments, or to enhance the overall project. The lyrics come from a combination of my life experiences and a healthy imagination. I will frequently start with a particular phrase or idea, and build on that. Sometimes I just write down what comes to mind. Lately I've been trying very hard to not repeat myself. With more than 300 songs written, that's very difficult.
I have music uploaded on AcidPlanet.com, Virb.com, and Fuzz.com, under the same artist name. Stop by any time for a listen. Feedback is always appreciated.
I would love very much to trade CD's with any of the participants in this challenge. Last year I traded CD's with several artists, and discovered many new favorite songs. I'd love to expand my musical horizons again, so let me know. I have uploaded some songs to this site, and will upload more as they are finalized. Eventually I will upload the finished CD from this year's challenge to my page on Virb.com.
Glad to be participating in the challenge, and I look forward to many great songs from all of you.
