About

Description:

Beatle-esque melodies and backing vocals, loose Phish-like groove and a Latin- and Country- influenced lead guitar. (Thanks, Tom Q., for letting me plagiarise you.)

Well, OK, I really wanted to do an album, and I could have, but decided only to offer this rough mix EP instead. This is my first solo release ever, so I consider that a big step; and I did want to be a part of the RPM Challenge because I think this is a very cool thing that has helped to energize me and obviously so many other musicans.

I dedicate the song "We Drove Around the Neighborhood" to the memory of Bobby Brennan.

.... And DeDe ... thanks for being my muse and bringing music back into my heart. Te quiero mucho, baby. Life is good!

Group Members:

George W. Nugent; and I am fortunate to have had the contributions of my friend John and my other friend John. (Mssrs. Drexler and St. Onge) playing bass and keyboards on the two remixes of DeDe's Song.

2007 RPM Album Info

Date mailed or hand-delivered: 02/28/2007
Date received: 03/03/2007
Genre: Pop
Album Name: We Drove Around the Neighborhood
Album Description: This challenge was a great inspiration for me to push a project in this direction. I have no excuse for not having recorded an album except that I have been distracted. That said: This release is a Pop/rock EP Containing some lively songs, one remix incorporating weird, if not clever sampling of the Beatles' Taxman. "We Drove Around the Neighborhood" was written and recorded on Feb 25, 2007.
Tracks (w/ numbers): 1. We Drove Around the Neighborhood
2. DeDe's Song (Don't Worry)
3. DeDe's Song (Don't Worry) - REMIX 1
4. DeDe's Song (Don't Worry) - REMIX 2 - Taxman
Preferred track for listening party: 04 Dede's Song (Don't Worry) - Remix
Band Bio: Well, for now I guess, I am billing as a solo musician, with friends, ... I grew up in Texas, and have lived on the east coast for about 17 years. My influences range from The Beatles to Phish, but I am never surprised to hear a little Allman Brothers or James Taylor, Talking Heads, or Grateful Dead trying to emerge in in some of my stuff. Well - I - hear it anyway ;-) Very weird. I am a former member of the Jumblies and The Huge in Virginia, and Fair Warning and the Wet Spiders in DC. I wrote both of these songs, played all instruments (bass, accoustic and electric guitars)* and sang all vocals, program the percusssion tracks, and recorded, mixed edited and produced the songs using a Digidesign MBox 2 and ProTools, and a very warm AKG Perception 400 condenser mic. This is my first home studio and I could not be happier. I love being able to sit in my living room and make music. Rock on!
Group Members & Instruments Played: I play a Limited Edition Martin Dreadnought accoustic guitar, and a Paul Reed Smith Swamp Ash Special electric. Mr. Roger J. Drexler, former bassist of None the Wiser in Maryland, plays bass on the two remixes of DeDe's Song. Mr. Drexler plays a Fender Jazz (Mex.) Mr. John St. Onge of Maryland provided the keyboard sessions work as well on the remixes. Mr. St. Onge plays a Korg Le workstation.
Band Location (city, state or province, & country): Chevy Chase, Maryland (metro DC)
