About

Description:

For 2007, I mostly participated in RPM as a "philosopher," writing a Serious Record in my head until I looked up and realized that it was February 25. This caused me to begin the process of quickly writing and recording a Non-Serious Record under the name of Dripping, Sopping: A Saturation Celebration. Some semblance of an album actually got done in those three days. It was a rock record, or perhaps I should say a meta-rock record, and was a lot of fun to make.

In 2008, I decided to just forget any hopes of making a Serious Record, and instead stretch out and make another Non-Serious Record with the entire month, but take it somewhat Seriously this time. I spent my spare time in February '08 making a record under the monicker Quelle Fromage, a pseudo-band name I've used in the past to make instrumental music equally inspired by classic crappy Moog records, classic crappy 8-bit Nintendo music, and crystal methamphetamine. I've really wanted to make another QF record for years now, and RPM served as the perfect opportunity to see it through. The new Quelle Fromage record is called Economy. It's done, basically. And it's pretty darned fun from end to end.

I'd also hoped to make a one-song, 35-minute, one-day-start-to-finish experimental-noise record on top of doing the Quelle Fromage record, but QF took a heck of a lot more time to get done than I ever expected going in. Well, maybe next year. Or next month? Who knows.

Group Members:

2008:

Quelle Fromage is R. B., and so are fake synthesizers. Try and tell them apart. You can't. There.

Also, Quelle Fromage is the liquor.

2007:

DRIPPING, SOPPING: A SATURATION CELEBRATION:

R. B. - "composer" / "songwriter," most things (guitar / bass / drums / most of the vocals / mixing), pretty much the band.

Honorary members: Chantal W. (lyric coauthorship, moral support, and lead vocals on "Tit Spit"), Einat M. (backing vocals, general lyrical / life inspiration and art), Holly H. (backing vocals), SOOPAGEEK (best song titles ever), Bryn H. (second best song titles ever), Jill B. (tied with Soop and Bryn).

2008 RPM Album Info
Date mailed or hand-delivered: 03/01/2008
Date Received: 03/06/2008
Genre: Instrumental
Album Name: Economy
Album Description: Really more of an EP than an album, this is ten short but action-packed tracks of unabashedly retro, thoroughly ironic synthesized ridiculousness. From prog rock to funk, from country to polka, and even a little unexpected headbanging here and there, you will find it here, as rendered by painstakingly-tweaked and horrifyingly irritating synthesizers. The melodies-- just as devastatingly irritating-- come at you hard and fast; don't pause the record, or you'll get one stuck in your head for the rest of the day. There are many, many worse ways you could spend 18 minutes... but I guess you could also spend it masturbating.
Tracks (w/numbers): 1. Kidd Plagal
2. Chicken in the Autoclave
3. The Haunted Hat Epiphany
4. Can I touch your starship?
5. Isle of the Clap
6. DA!!!!!!!
7. She's Alkali-Resistant (draft version)
8. BEEFEETER TRILOGEE II (TOO): LO, BEQUEATH THE REBESUMMONING OF APOLLO, PROMETHEUS, BAKLAVAR, ETC.
9. A Hot Tub, Some Liquor and You
10. Houston, you have a f***ing problem
Preferred Track: 2, 4, 10, all of 'em really except 7
Band Bio: One rare, actual project of many musical pipe dreams held by its creator, Quelle Fromage has been making very short songs with absurdly forward / straightforward melodies and funny noises on very sporadic occasion for about seven years now. It is a project that exists entirely to remind society of its many past mistakes... through the healing power of simple synthesis.
Band Members & Instruments Played: QF is RB, driving REAPER and a whole bunch of fake synthesizers. Oh, and he plays guitar on one song (fakes it on another) and also serves as the sampled "choir" in one other song. Yeah, that's pretty much it.
Band Location (city, state or province, and country): Oklahoma City, OK
music, etc
RPM 2008 demos, works-in-progress, or tracks-finished-early... a musical sketchbook. This is just a sampler -- complete and finished albums will be uploaded into the real jukebox in March!
