We are an old time string band. We typically play traditional acoustic music of the North Carolina/Virginia mountains. Our album will focus on a contemporary interpretation of this music. We have a web site at southernstringband.net for those interested in what we usually do. Writing tunes is an exciting and new challenge for us. We will be recording our work with an Ederol R-1 Digital recorder. |

Charley Nelson - tenor guitar, tenor banjo, mandolin, bass -- most anything with four strings. Luthier.
Bob Peter - guitar, mandolin, tenor banjo Landscape architect.
Ron Raxtor - bass. Attorney. A founder of Pine Cone in 1984 and the Apple Chill Cloggers in 1975.
Wade Smith- fiddle. Attorney. Played banjo with the Lost Dog String Band and Bloomsbury Park.
