ABTechno Stands for Applied Basic Technology. This term came from two thoughts: a quote from Brian Eno: "Think of your limitations as secret strengths", and a tidbit from the book "Information Anxiety" - There are more words/information in a Sunday New York Times than in the entire Greek library. ABTechno was founded on a few principles: 1: Punk Technology: One doesn't need to be a rocket scientist to create new and great forms of invention, be they product or fine art. There are many resources available to a creative individual. It is a matter of applying tools that exist in ways that you grow to understand them 2: Base Form: Narrowing possibilities with imposed constraints 3: Applied Idea: Bravely enter spaces of little comfort and accepting the possibilities that come from the challenges found within. Last year I assisted my brother on the "Sidewalk Boys" RPM project. This year he suggested that I consider, despite an incredible work load and a planned trip to Vancouver and Mexico in February, to take the challenge. I have nursed the concept "Danger Billy Razor" for over 30 years. He is a character that infuses love and tragic loss. I found this a useful premise for creating a work that is exactly 35 minutes long.... one song.
Group Members:
ABTechno is a loose collective, not unlike Chrissy Hinds Pretenders. More of a "motorcycle gang" than a band. It is intended that, through the wonders of digital media transfer, performances will be drawn from many sources, regions and talents. Details of these contributions will be documented at: www.abtechno.com
