My Imaginary Life

About

Description:

My goal this year, as a returning RPM-er, is to not only write some quality songs, but more importantly, to up my production value greatly.  I don't know if I'll be able to pull it off this year.  But I'm going to use the Challenge to push me to write, record, and learn.

My Imaginary Life is a musical glimpse into the much more interesting existence I would be living if I weren’t already living this one. I like the sound of indie-guitar, beats, latin clang, 70's groove, banjo pickin’s, and a touch of sadness. We’ll see what happens. With a little help from my friends. And my computer.

Band Bio: My Imaginary Life is Jessica Emelia.

I named my band 'My Imaginary Life' because I was always wondering about all these things I could be doing in my life if I had a ton of money, no job, no responsibilities, etc. etc. I decided I could live out my daydreams by writing songs about them, songs about my imaginary life.

I have always been very interested in writing music, but this is the first time I have seriously written and recorded songs to completion.
Group Members & Instruments Played: All songs and lyrics were composed, performed, and mastered by Jessica Emelia. I played electric and acoustic guitar, piano, and sang all vocals.

I use Reason 3.0, Fruity Loops, and GarageBand to piece it all together. I don't use any samples or pre-written loops.

Trumpets on 'Insomnia' performed by Brad Clymer.

Lyrics to 'When Carla Comes Back To Town' by Jessica Emelia, Katie Hurley, Kari Aosved, Erika Chawla, Anne-Marie Keswick. and Luis Rivera.

Drum arrangements on 'Insomnia' and 'Train' by Jessica Emelia and Liz Iversen.

'Desert' by Jessica Emelia and Liz Iversen.

Loren Risker helped with all the many technical aspects of the album.

Loren Risker, Liz Iversen, and Dave Riney gave indispensable feedback and support throughout the project.
Band Location (city, state or province, & country): Chicago, Illinois
